Jon is a very motivational teacher with excellent strategies for continued improvement. He teaches a perfect balance between songs and theory and always checks for your understanding with everything you play and helps you to identify how you can apply that understanding to other songs, genres and contexts. Student access to the website resources are brilliant so need to buy additional books. I would recommend him for beginners or experienced players. His studio is neat and tidy with whiteboards, amps, music stands and tuners for his students to use.

I had no idea what to expect with my first guitar lesson. Jon helped guide me through theory and patiently break down concepts with me. He followed up with links to his website and emails to make sure I was on track. His knowledge on guitar and music theory is extensive. A fantastic teacher, thank you!

My 8 year old son has recently started lessons at Fretroom. I've been very impressed with Jon's professionalism. He has been fantastic with my son and has managed to keep him focussed and enthusiastic (which is not an easy task!). Jon has an obvious passion for guitar, and his enthusiasm certainly reflects in his teaching. Thanks Jon - keep up the good work!

As an intermediate player I came to Jon looking for a deeper understanding of what I was already playing and applying theory to it. In the past couple of months my playing has improved tenfold. I have had a few guitar tutors over the years and Jons is a passionate teacher with a wealth of knowledge whatever level you are at. Jon always provides a follow up email summary of the lessons and has developed his own web site 'fretroom' which gives access to reference material and tutorials. Highly recommended!

Great teacher: patient, calm, good balance of practical & theory within lessons. Excellent follow-up material on dedicated website - both theory & songs. Able to adapt tasks to fit the ability and ambition of the player. I cannot recommend Jon highly enough.
